The Ngak family was the first to arrive to America. They left Thailand in 1978 and was relocated to Davis, Calif., where their sponsors lived. After months of sending hundreds of letters to families and friends in Cambodia, they successfully found the whereabouts of the rest of the Buth family in Thailand. Separated for one full year, the family was finally reunited in Davis, Calif.
A NEW DAY. How would you know of the mornings I spent watching fresh rain Absorbed by the cracking wood? Did I ever tell you about the days Dying into night? The sky ringing sympathy Humming the song you never wrote for me Four white walls breathing your name Me, crying to the moon out of my third floor window And you in love with the idea of women As long as it wasnt Me, at the market alone No longer contemplating apples or bananas I switched to peaches My voice Reminiscent of saliva Sour with regret Ears textured Tormented ellipses Tomorrow Ill wake up Missing the smell of your sweat Tonight Ill dream of the day I wont remember your favorite Beatles song.
